Making Tax Digital is a key part of the government’s plans to make it easier for individuals and businesses to get their tax right and keep on top of their affairs
– meaning the end of the annual tax return for millions.

HMRC are implementing these changes from April 2018 for the self-employed and from 2020 for Companies.
Ledgers are busy preparing for this new tax reporting system to take the burden away from clients, leaving them free to run their businesses.
We are early adopters of cloud technology and have moved all of our working practices into the cloud. Ensuring that we are always on the latest version of software.

With the new IR35 legislation coming in from April we will have a contract checking service available for clients.

IR35 Contract Reviews

IR35 is anti-tax avoidance legislation and has been around for well over a decade. The legislation has merged, changed, and even ‘simplified’ over the years, but even so, it continues to be a very complex area of tax legislation. Specialists at our Fee Protection partner, Croner Taxwise, are ready to support you in this specialist area with advice, reviews and representation.

Over 50% of new IR35 investigations are conducted on organisations providing services to the public sector with a strong emphasis on:
– Government departments
– Agencies

It is anticipated that this will soon extend to Local Authorities and other areas where tax payers’ money is held in a contractual chain.

From April 2017 the rules for public sector contractors mean that the onus of responsibility is placed upon the end user or agency to report IR35 status and deduct PAYE & National Insurance. It is vitally important to provide some written evidence of their IR35 position in order for them to make an informed decision.

Croner Taxwise will find out if you are compliant with IR35 legislation by producing a detailed written contract review by one of their specialists. Prices start from £199 + VAT.
